How to Install Official Android 7.0 Nougat Update on OnePlus 3

OnePlus 3 smartphone can now be upgraded to stable Android 7.0 Nougat update. Step by step guide about how to install Android 7.0 Nougat on One Plus 3 will be shared in due course of this article. This update is named as OxygenOS Open Beta 9 and is currently the Beta version of upcoming final and stable real Android 7.0 Nougat update to OnePlus 3 smartphone. As per the company, they are going to release stable update this month itself (almost a week if left). How to install Android 7.0 Nougat Update on OnePlus 3

Before moving any further, please make sure to have backup of all important docs/contacts. Move them to a location where they can be restored later. For doing so, you can either use some backup app from Play Store or can transfer them to some cloud or local storage system. Sync in the contacts with online cloud storage systems or email would be the best feasible solution here.

Once you are done with the backup part and is convinced with moving ahead, you can follow below steps to install and flash OxygenOS Open Beta 9 ROM on your OnePlus 3 smartphone:

  • Download ADB Tools (for Windows) and this custom file for Mac. Download and install the both the softwares. Unzip the downloaded files and place the extractedf folder on your desktop
  • In order to install the flashing tool on Mac, open Terminal>>Type cd Desktop/Android >> ./ on the screen
  • You will need to download the OxygenOS ROM to your computer as well. You can download this custom ROM from this link
  • Switch OFF you phone and boot it to Recovery mode. To do so, turn it ON by holding the Volume Down button i.e. press and hold Power + Volume Down keys together till the OnePlus 3 is booted to recovery mode
  • Setup the recovery mode, like choosing the default language (choose English here), selecting "install from ADB" option
  • Your phone will now to pushed/booted to ‘Sideload mode’ operation mode
  • Connect it to computer (where you have downloaded the files given in 1st and 3rd step) and open the folder which you have placed on Desktop in 1st step
  • Open Command Prompt Window on your laptop'/computer
  • It is good to check if your device is detected in ADB environment. To do so, type ADB devices command in terminal. It will show all installed/valid devices
  • Run these 2 commands in the command prompt/terminal
    For Windows: “adb sideload
    For Mac/Linux: “./adb sideload

    File name is the name that you have used to save the ROM package (3rd step)
  • Once the flashing part is completed, reboot your smartphone to normal mode (be pressing power button simply).
