NRC Assam: How to get enrolled and update details in NRC Database

NRC stands for National Register of Citizens and is a central database that have the records of names of Indian citizens who enrolled themselves with 1951 census. 1951 Census was the first and last time when NRC was prepared and updated. Assam Government has decided to update NRC records for all the persons who either appeared during 1951 census or during any other electoral polls conducting till midnight of 24th March 1971. People who have appeared in any admissible documents (up to 24th March 1971 midnight), will also have to enroll their details with new updated NRC collection. In case you fall into any of the above mentioned category (have enrolled during 1951 Census, or have taken part in electoral polls or applied for any admissible document till 24th Mar 1971), you need to get your details enrolled and updated in existing NRC database.     How to apply online/offline for NRC Assam

    As we said already, as per the official portal, registration process is already completed. However there might be rare cases where registration is yet to be completed. You can follow below steps to get enrolled with National Register of Citizens Assam:

    • Get the NRC application form from your nearby electoral office (or designated NRC office)
    • Fill in the form completely. These forms will be filled on family basis, so be careful while filling any of the column in registration form
    • You can get NRC application/registration forms from any of the NRC identified office
    • Once done, submit the registration form to concerned person at the NRC office
    • Government officials will now validate all the records
    • Once verified, Government will issue draft copy of NRC records/names
    • It will be a pre-copy of final version. In case you have any issues or want to modify the already registered details, you can do so by giving proper supported documents
    • Your details will be re-verified by the officials
    • Once the details are verified completely, the final NRC will be published and your name will appear in the final NRC list

    List of documents required for NRC Process

    Main requirement behind collecting the certificates is to check and verify names of applicants. You can submit any government recognized document that bears your name proof. Some common documents are:
    • Birth Certificate
    • Ration Card
    • Driving License
    • Passport
    • LIC
    • Bank Account Details
    • Electricity Bill
    • LIC
    • Citizenship proof
    • Voter ID Card
    • Educational certificates
    • Land documents

      NRC Seva Kendras in Assam
      NRC Seva Kendras are the help centers where you can get details on your application and queries related to NRC process. As per the sources, Government has installed NRC help desks in each of the Assam district and each one of them would be covering apprx 2500 households. You can submit your application form in the Seva Kendra which is assigned for your home address. You are not allowed to submit details at any other center.
